The Sharing Foundation’s Special Children (December, 2003)

BeforeAfter

Sreng Samnang arrived in November 2002 and in December underwent the first of several surgeries to correct her severe bilateral cleft lip and palate. All surgeries have been done pro bono by plastic surgeon Dr Michael Lewis [MGH]. The next is scheduled for Dec '03.

“Sam” will also require a major bone graft at 7 or 8 years of age to compensate for absent upper gums. She is an irrepressible child, always smiling and dancing; she stays happily now in Foster care with an Eliot, Maine family which includes big sister Channy, adopted from Cambodia. It is their fervent wish to adopt Sam, but currently the US Government won’t allow it.
