Srey Mom

Srey Mom, now Maya Mae, was the first: discovered in the back room of Cham Chao Orphanage, weighing less than 11 pounds at 23 months of age, she had severe gastrointestinal and urinary anomalies as well as other less serious ones. She was brought to Boston in April 2000 and underwent six major surgeries over 9 months, performed pro bono by Dr Daniel Ryan at Mass General. Foster family Sally Stokes/ Bob Luoma lovingly cared for her between surgeries. Ultimately Srey Mom was adopted by the Potter/Hughes family in Gardiner, Maine. This year she has finally become a full U.S. citizen, and has also started kindergarten. She is a very happy child, fully appreciated by her family.
