We need your support to fill the Roteang Village School Library with books!

In August 2001, The Sharing Foundation hired eight Cambodian teachers from Phnom Penh to launch a program of English language instruction for students attending the Roteang Village School. Located in a small rural community, the school serves children of subsistence farmers. Speaking English is a valuable skill which can help these children learn how to use computers and pursue jobs outside the village which pay better than farming or fishing. Instruction is delivered six days a week in fifteen 45-minute sessions, for children ages 8 to 15 years. While more than 350 students participate, the classes are staggered so that the student-to-teacher ratio remains at about 25:1, an ideal learning situation. The cost of instruction is only about $100 per month per teacher.

Last year, TSF established the school's first rudimentary library. Thanks to some initial donations, we have begun to stock the library with English-language picture books. Our goal is to fill the bookshelves with a variety of culturally-appropriate books to enhance the children's learning opportunities and help build their reading skills. Your contributions can help make this possible!

While we greatly appreciate contributions of any amount, we will acknowledge each gift of $25 by placing a bookplate with your name and/or personalized message inside the cover of a library book. The forms below indicate how to personalize your bookplate. You can make your gift online using your credit card or print and mail a form to make your donation by check. Thank you for supporting our efforts to care for Cambodian children!
